What Help is Available?

​My aim is to help you to reflect and gain insight and so be more able to deal with any issues, in an effective way. This is done within a safe, confidential, non-judgmental, empathetic 'therapeutic' relationship. You can feel empowered to use your own resources to move towards where you want to be. Working together to find ways to help with changing unwanted behaviours, beliefs or habits or gain a greater sense of wellbeing, self esteem and purpose so as to use your potential. Helping to find causes to poor mental or physical health and by therapeutic interventions or coaching or herbal medicine or a combination of techniques, or possibly combining nature and therapy, depending on what you want and need.

Psychotherapeutic interventions can include CBT, Counselling, EMDR, EFT, NLP, Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness, Visual Imagery and a wide range of other psychotherapeutic theories in practice , from such as Gestalt, Rogers, Jung, Erikson, Burn, TA, Beck, Ellis, Kelly and many other approaches. Coaching, Solution focused Brief therapy, principles of Positive psychology and motivational techniques also offer a toolbox of possibilities to help you to resolve your problem. We will focus on solutions rather than problems and help you be aware of choices and so feel empowered to take responsibility to create the change you want in your life. I am a part of the Brookhouse Hypnotherapy group. See brochure bh_group_booklet.pdf and page 41. Here some of the therapies are explained in more detail.​ I have studied EMDR with three trainers and a Doctor, and now meet criteria in this brochure.

My extensive Careers/Vocational guidance knowledge and over 30+ years of experience, can offer information and advice on options and different career paths, new purpose and direction, whether in employment, facing redundancy or unemployed.

We can work on a deeper level, by combining advanced Hypnotherapy with NLP, to help your body become deeply relaxed, but your subconscious mind will remain very focused and alert on the issues you wish to change. However, you will be in total control throughout the session and will be able to open your eyes and return to being alert from your relaxed state whenever you wish. Any hypnotic positive suggestion will be initiated by you and be beneficial to you. An individualised audio recording to listen to at home to reinforce any actions and changes required, is available. This may help change habit forming behaviour and promote self esteem or reduce anxiety and depression

An example of a combined approach is Nutrition and Weight Management. See Training . Initially it could include dietary analysis of your nutrient intake and looking at daily activity levels and metabolic rate (for example, a combination of increased activity by 250 Kcal/day and decreased intake by 250Kcal/day, is a negative energy balance of 500 Kcalories/day, so a gradual reduction in of loss of body fat). Use of therapeutic interventions looking at self-esteem/efficacy, as well as offering motivational life-coaching and NLP and using hypnotherapy to help establish change on a subconscious level, all may help to create long term change. Naturopathic approaches and plant-based foods and cleanses to help to detox and also herb formulas may be included.

If you feel depressed, stressed or anxious, we can work together, by using some of the therapies above, to start to find new coping strategies and ways forward. I have experience and training of working with individuals with PTSD, such as using EMDR and Visual Imagery.

I am currently studying Hypno-Psychotherapy and has learnt
a range of Psychotherapeutic interventions. Studied Jung to Freud to Erikson and Burns and many others and practically can use these approaches to enable individuals to become more aware and see a different perspective, so as to feel less `stuck` to see ways forward. I also help individuals to find meaning and purpose and so feel less stuck and gain new motivation and energy

Herbal medicine is also a natural way to help improve mental health, whilst we are working through issues, you will need a Doctor`s agreement and we take into consideration any contra-indications with existing medication. See Herbs and Health

Also available are `hands on` treatments, which can help a wide range of physical and emotional health conditions:
Reflexology. It is based on the principle that the entire body is represented in reflexes in the hands and feet. Theses reflexes are understood to be linked to specific areas of the body through a network of invisible energy pathways known as zones. Tension, illness,weakness and dis-ease manifest in the reflexes and may be experienced as tender or painful areas. Using precise thumb and finger techniques, Paula may be able to activate the body`s self healing capacity. and to relax and rebalance the whole body. It may help to reduce stress and induce relaxation, improve circulation of blood and lymph, cleanse body of impurities, energise and balance the system. You remain fully clothed and lie down comfortably in the lavender therapy room, with relaxing music and Paula touches your feet, using light touch.

Indian head massage may have physical benefits such as improving blood circulation to the head, neck and shoulders, also stimulating lymphatic drainage, dispersing toxins in the muscle tissues, improving skin tone, helping eye strain and may assist with headaches and insomnia. Emotional benefits may include help with mental tiredness, anxiety and stress, restoring energy and feeling more calm and balanced. You remain fully clothed and it can be quite invigorating, as Paula uses a range of hand movements on your back, neck, scalp and face, whilst sitting in a chair.

I can also offer Reiki as part of both these treatments, to enhance further healing.


Herbal ear candling. I was trained by a Doctor, who explained that the `Hopi` ear candles that are often used, are perhaps inferior to the specialised, different, very large, herbal candles that I use. The candles are inserted in the ears (often 4 per session). One is lit and the heat from the flame creates a stimulating, soothing, warming effect. The mechanics of this process is energetic in nature. As often people are mis formed, as they do not suck wax from the ear, as that would be impossible. Instead, they add heat to the system, in such a subtle way, that may result in a stimulation of lymphatic drainage(swelling goes down); in burning off excess mucus in middle and inner ear, sinuses and nose (breathing improves); in increasing mobility and effectiveness of the white blood cells (improved immune response); in stimulating the pituitary gland (controls glandular system).Ear candling can strengthen the bodily systems through balancing the energetic system.
It may help sinus congestion, colds, flu, sore throats, earaches, ear infections, sinus infections, lymphatic congestions, swollen glands, snoring, vertigo, balance, tinnitus, allergy symptoms, asthma, bronchitis, hearing difficulties, ear pressure,headaches, depression, weak immune system, hyperactivity etc...
